The nutrition label trap: what we were taught to miss

If you grew up as a woman in America over the last thirty years, you likely have a specific superpower: you can scan a nutrition label in 1.5 seconds and instantly locate three numbers: Calories. Carbs. Fat.

We were trained like elite athletes - not for strength or longevity - but for restriction. We looked at those black-and-white boxes as a moral compass, believing that if we just mastered the math - we’d finally master our bodies.

But while we were busy obsessing over the ‘big three’, we missed the big picture.

We ignored the quality of what we were putting in our bodies - brainwashed to believe the 100-calorie pack of processed crackers (remember those?!) was ‘better for us’ than a pack of nuts.

It’s time to stop treating food like a math problem. Instead of asking "how many calories is this going to cost me?", start asking "what is this food giving me?".

Welcome to almost-gourmet!
